  1. 1955-01-01

    ASIS founded: ASIS International was founded and is positioned as a global security practitioner organization.

  2. 2019-05-13

    ASIS awards first Associate Protection Professional certifications: ASIS announced inaugural APP certifications and positioned APP as the first rung on a security management career ladder, alongside CPP, PCI and PSP.

  3. 2019-06-01

    APP officially launched as a new ASIS certification: The new APP certification was reported as officially launched for practitioners with four years or less of related experience.

  4. 2020-07-31

    Remote proctoring introduced: ASIS began offering remotely proctored board certification exams (Prometric ProProctor) in addition to test-center delivery.

  5. November 1, 2023

    APP eligibility reduced to one year of compensated security experience

  6. February 20, 2024

    APP eligibility now includes 6-month related-cert pathway
